Hi everyone,

I can’t believe how quickly the weeks are flying by!  While I don’t have any new events to add to our schedule, I do have a few more details about what is coming up. For those of you – like me – who need stuff repeated until it sinks in, some of the information below is from last week’s newsletter as well.

Canadian Nature in Mind Festival
Both of our groups will participate in this exciting event.  Based solely on how their repertoire is currently progressing, I anticipate the Youth Singers performing 2-3 songs while the Children’s choir performs 1-2 pieces.

Please encourage your child to practice her/his music between practices to help us out with this.

Any child in our choirs will not require a ticket. However, if you want to watch the performance you will need to purchase a ticket. They are available at the Yates or Enmax or can be purchased online if that is more convenient for you

In terms of times your child(ren) will be needed for this event, here is what I have so far:

Family Week rehearsals
We will have a rehearsal on Wednesday during this week. As we have a dress-rehearsal at 6:30 at the Yates, we are looking into practicing at a nearby venue. This has not yet been confirmed.  I will let you know when I do.

If we require additional practice time during family week, I would like to have an extra practice on Thursday during the day. Please email me as to whether or not your child could attend.

Children’s Choir Social
Thank you for your feedback on this.  As per many of your requests, we will hold the event at a later time. Shelly is working on this.I’ll give you information on dates, etc. as soon as I can.

March Retreat March 7^th and 8^th
Here is the tentative schedule for this event:

Children’s Choir          9:30-11:30       University of Lethbridge Experimental Theatre (David Spinks)

Music Festival
Our times in the Kiwanis Music Festival have been confirmed as follows on Wednesday April 16th:

            Children’s Choir          6:00-7:00         Southminster United Church

            Youth Singers               7:00-8:00         Southminster United Church

Our Spring Concert
This is set for Friday, April 25^th at 7 pm. Thank you to the parent who pointed out how crowded the venue was at Christmas. Based on this suggestion, we are looking into renting Southminster United Church for this event.I will let you know.

T-Shirts
If you are new to the choir, please email me regarding ordering your child’s t-shirt.  This – along with black skirts (girls) and pants (boys) and black shoes is our uniform.

Provincial Music Festival
Depending on how we are adjudicated in the Kiwanis Music Festival, one or both of our groups may be invited to participate in the Provincial Music Festival in Edmonton during the weekend of May 8-11. 

We will not know about this until after mid-April, but please keep this weekend open should we be asked to attend.
