Things you Need to Know ... Feburary, March and April

Hi everyone,
Here is what is happening for us over the next few weeks. Please make a note of each event on your calendars and contact me if you have any concerns.
Canadian Nature in Mind Festival
Based on your responses, both groups will be able to participate in this wonderful event. I don’t have many details, but here is what I have so far:
Wednesday, February 20th Yates Dress Rehearsal 6:30-7:30
Thursday, February 21st Yates Performance 7:00 (arrive by 6:30)
Friday, February 22nd Yates Dress Rehearsal time tba
Saturday, February 23rd Yates Performance 7:00 (arrive by 6:30)
Tickets for this event are $12 for adults and $6 for children, unless you’d like to attend the Gala on Saturday, in which case the tickets are $20. They are available at the Enmax or the Yates box office (329-7328). I hear that they are going pretty quickly.
Family Week rehearsals
Normally, I would cancel rehearsals during this week. However, since we are performing that week, we will practice as usual on Feburary 20th. I am looking into changing our venue for that week to make it easy to get to the Yates by 6:30. I will let you know by next week.
Children’s Choir Social
Shelly David (a mom from our choir) has offered to help me organize a social event for our choir during family week. She has suggested bowling, which would be a lot of fun. We would likely do this at Holiday bowl on the Thursday or Friday (22nd or 23rd). Can you please let me know if you would like your child to participate?
If you would like to participate but won’t be here during that week, we could arrange to do it another time. In this case, would you please let me know whether or not you’d prefer this?
Retreat on March 7-8
We will have a retreat on March 7th and 8th. The Friday night will be a social event for the Youth Singers. Right now we are looking into the Movie Mill accommodating us.
Saturday the 8th of March will be a rehearsal time. I will send you the details as soon as I can. Please keep this weekend open if possible - particularly if you are in the youth singers.
Music Festival
Our times in the Kiwanis Music Festival have been confirmed as follows on Wednesday April 16th:
Children’s Choir 6:00-7:00 Southminster United Church
Youth Singers 7:00-8:00 Southminster United Church
It is awesome that the groups perform back-to-back. I encourage you to attend each other’s performances if at all possible.
Our Spring Concert
This is set for Friday, April 25th at 7 pm in the University of Lethbridge Recital Hall.
T-Shirts
If you are new to the choir, you will need to order a t-shirt through me. This – along with black skirts (girls) and pants (boys) and black shoes is our uniform.
For those of you who ordered t-shirts before Christmas, there were a few cases where the youth sizes were especially large. We can fix this, but I need to know how many of you this affected and have those shirts returned. It doesn’t matter if they’ve been worn and washed.
Provincial Music Festival
Depending on how we are adjudicated in the Kiwanis Music Festival, one or both of our groups may be invited to participate in the Provincial Music Festival in Edmonton during the weekend of May 8-11.
We will not know about this until after mid-April, but please keep this weekend open should we be asked to attend.

I am continuing to educate myself on how to use this as a tool that will benefit all of us. I’ve added some photos and am trying to figure out how to get a blog going to encourage communication between all of us. If you have good quality photos, just send them to me. I’d be happy to add them when I get a chance.
